Why this site stays static

Published on

I could have used a CMS, a database, a custom backend. I chose HTML, CSS and a tiny bit of JavaScript. Here's why.

  • Attack surface: no server to patch, no dependency to watch constantly.
  • Performance: a file served by a CDN is hard to beat.
  • Cost: hosting is almost free at portfolio scale.
  • Maintenance: I can read every page, every line of code.
  • Portability: the site runs anywhere, tomorrow or in ten years.

The only "build" is a small Python script that injects the header/footer and minifies the CSS. No framework, no magic.
